How did we discover this place? Even my friend who lives nearby had never been to this place, nor heard of it. See how sublte the place is? It's actually located just right by the Zhishan MRT Station. This place had been recommended by Mum's friend from nursing school. And thanks to Mum's lovely guests, I had the opportunity of having this absolutely delightful meal!
This bean curd salad seems like a simple dish, but it's funny how I've had many that weren't so tasty!
This and the dish above were complimentary dishes.
Of course, some beer made the meal even more perfect!
The place was packed when we got there. We had to head to the basement, where there were three tables. Since the place was super busy, the lady suggested that we order a set. Mum didn't want to order a set at first, but then after perusing the menu, we thought that we had better go with the set if we didn't want to wait too long. We could just replace the dishes we didn't want with other dishes.
因此第一道菜，我吃到後來還打包了兩份帶回家 - 油雞！非常好吃！
So this delicious cold chicken came first. It was so good I had to take away two servings afterwards!
I've ruined this picture, but it was a good dish.
What it looked like after everyone's had a helping.
Onion salad. Gross (I hate onions...)
Steamed fish was fresh and tasty.
Fried silk thread roll - good with other dishes (washes down the strong tastes) or with a dipping of condensed milk.
Couldn't help getting more of it!
Another dish that seemed simple - bitter gourd with salty duck eggs.
Oysters with twisted crullers (youtiao).
Hakka fry-up. The place was a Hakka restaurant, so this seemed like a must-order dish.
Some veggies to balance the diet.
Lastly, but certainly not least - pork tummy soup.
Of course I didn't taste any of the pork dishes. But the ones I did taste, they were all marvelous! Even if you didn't have rice to go with the dishes, they weren't too salty.
And the finale - fruit!
