Have I read the novels?  No.  Let's just admit here that some books are written to be filmed, and some are written to be read.  That explains why I am fully capable of enjoying the Bonds, the Harry Potters, and now the Bournes.  [Although I often consider the book and the movie to be completely different works of art.]

I enjoyed this one so much, despite its genuine Americanism.  You can thank Matt Damon for this.  He is one of the many talented actors I keep my eyes open for.  He has been on my top-ten list ever since I saw his outstanding performance in Good Will Hunting.  Fortunately for him, he doesn't have that dolly face like his buddy Benny does.  Those pretty faces seem to get people in trouble more than they bring them luck.  Sure, he's good looking.  But would you still say so if he hadn't the talent for acting?  Many would probably think twice before they answer.

And as for the plot, it seems needless to say that it is a must see for those who had been fans since Identity.  However, if you have only had glances at the previous two movies, a quick click to Wikipedia would do all the work.  It won't be as enjoyable, but it would certainly prepare you well for Ultimatum.

Jason Bourne in The Bourne Ultimatum

I am so satisfied with the movie, that I've decided to call him the American equivalent of James Bond.  Note the exact same initials: J.B.[Jason Bourne, and James Bond].  Coincidence?  I doubt it.  As our Renaissance man, Leonardo Da Vinci would tell you: everything is related to everything else.  There are no coincidences in this world.  They both have hi-tech gadgets, the brains, the stamina, the girl, and a whole team behind them, though Bourne's team is after him instead of supporting him.   The only thing Bourne is short of is his memory.  And even that, he regains as the movie resolves.

Like Bond, Bourne is a prolific traveler.  In one movie, the audience is able to travel around the world and visit different cities around the world on the big screen.

The movie has given me so much satisfaction, that I am now ready to sit back and enjoy Identity and Supremacy once again.  This time, from beginning to end.

  • This movie won't be in cinema in Australia until this Thursday, therefore, I'm still waiting, impatiently.

I like Matt Damon as well, for the same reason as you do, for he is talented, and versatile, and versatile, i wouldn't miss any of his movies.

By the way, the book is totally different from the movie, except the names, as I found out. I've only read the Ultimatum recently.
  • Really? That's interesting. I guess Taiwan's pretty good in that respect. We almost always get to see these blockbusters as soon as they are on the big screen in the States.

You'll enjoy it, I'm really sure.

  • I watched the first one, like it. Did not get a chance to watch second one, so I will try to watch the second one before the third one. Which one do you like the best?
  • It wouldn't be a bad idea to do a little reviewing beforehand.

I think I like the first and the third. I like the German girl. So, didn't really enjoy watching her die...
