誰說博物館裡不能有『生物』？利物浦世界博物館就是要擺脫你對博物館的刻板印象。
If you think that there can't be 'life' in a museum, you'd better think again.  World Museum Liverpool will definitely change your conventional idea of what a museum should be like!



本博物館是從十九世紀開始營運。原本命名為『德比博物館』，收藏了德比伯爵的私人自然歷史珍藏物。
It was started in the 1800's, named as the Derby Museum, housing the natural history collections of the Earl of Derby. 



幾年後因為太過受歡迎，而非得找個新地方建立大一點的建築物才容納的下珍藏品以及參觀旅客的人數。這棟建築物於1860年完工。
A new venue had to be sought due to the popularity of the museum and the growing collections.  This building that we see now, was finished in 1860.



因為利物浦是重要的港口，在第二次世界大戰中這棟建築物也有好多地方都遭到德軍的摧毀。不過現在看到的都是重建好的樣貌囉。
Some parts of the building were destroyed by the Blitz during World War II, but now they have all reopened.




這天是跟阿拉伯籍的同學一起來的。雖然有伴是很不錯，也是一種樂趣。不過我想我希望改天還是能夠找個時間自己一個人再來好好地、慢慢地給他逛個夠。因為除了有些展覽真的很吸引我之外，最重要的是：免！費！入！場！

I came with my Arabian classmate.  I must admit, that even though it is nice to have company, I do still want to find another chance to come again and spend more time to look at certain exhibitions.  On top of that, another aspect that attracts me most is the fact that - admission is FREE!!



入門就可見2008年利物浦身為歐洲文化首都的吉祥物－超級香蕉羊。
At the entrance, you can still see the trace of Liverpool's role as Eurpean Capital of Culture in 2008 - the Superlambanana.

我們先到最頂樓去看了一場關於太陽系的影片。頂樓的展覽我們兩個都沒什麼興趣。因為都是跟太空、星球有關的展覽。快速的瀏覽過後就下樓去繼續探索。
First, we went to the top floor and saw a short clip about the solar system.  As neither of us were too attracted to astronomy, we quickly browsed through the exhibition on that floor, and started to work our way down.



在下樓之前，這是在頂樓窗戶看到的景象。圖中可以看到利物浦位於碼頭旁的三大重要建築物，英文叫：the Three Graces。
Before we went down, this was what we saw through the window - the Liverpool Three Graces.  Three of the most important buildings in the Albert Dock area.



說到博物館一定會聯想到恐龍。這間博物館也不例外。不過除了恐龍之外，當然還有介紹其他的動物。感覺上好像小朋友比較會對這樓的展覽有興趣。
When one thinks of museums, one often makes the connection with dinasours.  Well, this museum is no exception.  It has its share of dinasour fossils, but it also shows exhibitions of other oranisms as well.  However, it seemed like something that would excite young scholars more.  So we moved quickly along.



羅馬展！這我就有興趣了！不過可惜羅馬區展覽的物品並不多。這點倒是讓我有點感到稍稍的失望。
The Roman exhibition was definitely our thing!  However, because it was not a large one, we were a little disappointed by it.

不過令人興奮的是，這間博物館的埃及館倒是挺不錯的！這一館大概是我們晃最久的地方。由於我朋友是阿拉伯人嘛！我就也趁機問了他一些關於埃及的事情[因為他有去過]。
What excited me the most was their Egyptian exhibition.  The collection was marvellous! I think we might have spent the most time there.  And because I came with a Saudi Arabian, I took the chance and learned a bit from her, seeing that she has been to Egypt, and I haven't.

別說埃及了！連日本都有...
They even had exhibits of artifacts from the Far East!



不過這些都不稀奇。最稀奇的應該是Bug House。因為裡面...真的有蟲！
If that's not fascinating enough, you must come to the Bug House.  Because you will find LIVING BUGS in there!

沒想到Lamphun那市場的攤販現在做生意做到全球化啦！[那是蚱蜢罐頭....]
I didn't realize the folks at Lamphun had expanded their business to this side of the world!  That's a 'can of grasshopper'!


當然少不了足球。

如果你覺得Bug House還不夠稀奇，那...在博物館裡的水族館夠稀奇嘛？
If you didn't think the Bug House was anything special, how about an aquarium INSIDE a museum? Is that fancy enough for ya?



這真的是個很有趣的博物館。晃完一整天，我們兩個也都累了。不過其實要離開之前才想到...其實當初講好要逛的是一間美術館，而不是這間博物館。這樣誤打誤撞的每次都讓我碰到奇妙的好事也真是不知道去哪裡求來的好運呢！希望很快就會有時間再來晃埃及館囉！因為他的埃及館可是只跟大英博物館差一點點的喔！！[Wiki說的...]

We both really enjoyed this museum.  However, we were also really tired afterwards.  It was only before we departed that we had realised this was not the place we had originally planned to spend the day in!  We had intended to visit an art gallery! What a pleasant mistake!  Anyway, I hope I will get the chance to visit this museum once again soon.  I really enjoyed their Egyptian exhibit.  Their Egyptian collection is only a notch below the world renowned British Museum! (according to wikipedia) Since it's still going to take a while before I get to London, I could spend as much time as I want here!

碎碎念：這個禮拜教授多擠了一堂課。可不要小看這一堂課。一堂課等於五小時以上的閱讀！！不過終於解脫了。下星期終於可以好好的放輕鬆，恢復正常的生活。這個禮拜都沒有新文章，讓大家久等了。希望大家喜歡這個世界博物館。
