【食記】英國的日本料理 Tenkaichi @ il Giardino Romantico

I've written about Chinese and Thai cuisine in the UK, but I think this is the first time I've written an article about Japanese cuisine in the UK. Aren't you curious about what Japanese food's like there?

之前天仙有跟大家分享過英國的中國餐廳，也有跟大家分享英國的泰國菜。不過我們台灣人也很喜歡吃的日本料理好像還沒介紹過吧！今天就來瞧瞧，在英國的日本料理店都長什麼樣子。

Tenkaichi is a small sushi and noodles bar. My friend in Cardiff and his mates are frequent patrons of the restaurant. Since my friends in Liverpool don't seem to fancy Japanese food too much, plus the petty range of choices of Japanese cuisine results in the fact that this is actually the first time since I got to the UK that I'd had at least something that is closer to what we consider 'Japanese food'.

今天這間Tenkaichi是卡地夫地陪以及友人常來光顧的一間日本料理店。天仙在利物浦的朋友好像對這種正統的日本料理有興趣的不太多，而且利物浦的日本料理店不是那種改良到已經不像樣的就是那種超級貴的日本料理店。所以這一餐可說是天仙去了英國後第一次嘗到比較接近道地味道的日本料理了。

Kimono dolls and maneki nekos (fortune cats) help create a more 'Japanese' atmosphere. I wonder how many of you noticed, that different cuisines go with their respective local beers. In Thai restaurants, you should have 'Chang Beer'. In Chinese restaurants, you should have a 'Chingdao'. If anyone opens a Taiwanese restaurant, I hope they find a way to import our very own 'Taiwan Beer'.

當然，店裡少不了一些日本風味的擺設。穿著和服的娃娃，以及招財貓一定都是必備的。而且不知道大家有沒有發現，再英國吃不同的異國料理，一定都會配上那一國的啤酒。泰式料理一定喝『Beer Chang』。中國料理就一定要配『青島』。如果哪天有人在這開了一間台式料理，一定也要配上國產的台啤啊！

The upside of Japanese restaurants in the UK is that there are more varieties of options for veggies like moi. I love yakisoba, but I rarely have the chance to have it, even before becoming a vegetarian. I wonder if this is because Taiwanese don't really fancy this dish?

不過英國日式料理店的好處呀，就是這種大眾菜幾乎都會有素食版的。別說素食版的了，連葷的我都很少有機會吃到yakisoba，更別說素食了。我其實好愛yakisoba的呢！！(難道台灣人不愛這味？)

Sashimis are a must!
吃日本料理當然也少不了刺身囉！

Since I've made an exception to so many fish and chips, would you like to guess and see if I made an exception for this plate of sashimi?

要不要猜猜看，為了fish and chips破戒的天仙，有沒有碰這盤刺身啊～～　^_^

So there it is, the kind of Japanese food that you can find in the UK. If you ask me what I thought of it, you won't get a very accurate answer. Unless it's extremely inedible, otherwise, I'm not very picky. To compound, when you're so far away from its country of origin, you really shouldn't ask for too much.

這就是英國可以吃到的日本料理囉。其實味道口感如何，問天仙不準。因為除非是非常難吃，其實我是一個很容易滿足的人。何況，遠在他鄉，能吃到就不錯了。別太計較囉。
