【倫敦】The Tower of London @ il Giardino Romantico

If you walk along the Themes, and reach Tower Bridge, it'd be impossible to miss Tower of London. This historical site is such an impressive building because of all the famous lives involved. Even though this time round, I only walked around it, it was still quite intimidating to think of how these important historic people were used to be imprisoned, or even executed here!

沿著泰晤士河走到倫敦塔橋就不可能錯過嫌眼的倫敦之塔。這具有歷史意義的建築物實在是很壯觀。光想到有多少歷史名人曾在這裡被關或甚至處死刑，就有股毛骨悚然的感覺！雖然這次我只是繞著走一圈，但還是有點畏懼的感覺呢！

The Tower was built by William the Conquerer in 1078, and other than being a prison, it had other functions as well. It is, after all, a castle.

倫敦之塔是由威廉一世於1078年建造。除了作為監獄之外，當然也有其他的功用。再怎麼說他確實還是個城堡～

The grey sky really goes well with the eerie atmosphere around the Tower.

灰色的天空好像跟這裡陰森的氣氛頗搭配的。

Other than the famous Anne Boleyn, famous prisoners also included Sir Thomas More, Sir Walter Raleigh, and even Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Mary as well! The gate you see in the pictures above, of course, got its name from the famous Thomas More incident. (Thomas More refused to support Henry VIII's divorce, thus was regarded a traitor).

除了最有名的亨利八世第二任妻子安妮博林之外，其他曾被關在這裡的歷史名人包括托馬斯莫爾，沃爾特雷利，甚至伊莉莎白一世跟血腥瑪麗都在這裡被關過！上圖看到的門，名字的由來當然就是從著名的莫爾事件取名的。（莫爾拒絕支持亨利八世與第一任妻子的離婚，因為這違反了天主教的教規。但莫爾也因此被亨利視為叛徒。）

When I got here, I was absolutely devastated, as I knew that I would enjoy the visit so much! But I had already made other plans, and with the half day that I had left that day, I didn't think it was worth paying the admission, despite it being the last day I could get concession (my student ID expired on this day)

來到這時其實我的心都快碎了！因為我知道我會超喜歡這裡的！但我已經有別的計畫了，而且當我走到這我也只剩下半天的時間，實在不值得花錢買門票進去只晃半天。即使這是我能購買學生票的最後一天，我還是要忍痛割捨。

I said to myself: I'll be back!

我對我自己說：我會回來的！！

The reason why I was so devastated was because of the special exhibition: King Henry VIII's armour!

很心痛的原因其實就是因為當時的特展：亨利八世的盔甲！！

不過如果你已經follow這的文章一陣子了，且有看過倫敦熊系列的圖文，我不用說你也會知道，我確實回來了！
