Hermia and Lysandar are deeply in love.  However, Hermia’s father decides to marry her to Demetrius, who had supposedly already given his vows to Helena.  Due to Athenian law, to disobey a father’s marital arrangement could lead to death, Hermia and Lysander decides to elope for love and to save Hermia’s life.  In order to put Helena’s mind at ease, the couple confides their eloping plan to her, but she, in turn, tells Demetrius of their plan.  

Hermia與Lysander熱戀。Hermia的父親卻不理會他們之間的愛情，決議要將Hermia許配給已對Helena許下承諾的Demetrius。因為雅典法律規定，若是女兒不服從父親安排的婚約，可處死刑。爲了保住自己的性命以及追求自己的幸福，兩位熱戀中的情侶不惜策劃私奔。爲了安撫Helena，Hermia絕對沒有想要介入或剝奪Demetrius之意，也將私奔計畫告知於她。但Helena卻也爲了討好Demetrius而將他們私奔之計透露給他。

 

When they reach the woods, the king of the fairies, who had a dispute with his queen,  sees them, and decides to ‘set things right’.  The fairy king orders his servant to rub a magic potion on Demetrius’s eyes, so that when he wakes up and sees Helena, he will fall in love with her.  However, the servant mistaken Lysander to be Demetrius.  When the king finds out, he finds Demetrius and both men fall in love with Helena.  Helena believes they have all teamed up to trick her.  When they have all gotten tired, they fell asleep.  Finally, the king orders his servant to do the job right this time.  

誰知，逃離到森林哩，卻被與皇後爭執中的精靈國王遇見了。因此詭計多端的國王就交代下人要以魔法液抹在Demetrius的眼睛上，使他一醒來看到Helena就會愛上他。不料，精靈卻誤認Lysandar為Demetrius。之後國王得知出錯後找出了Demetrius，但此時Helena卻認為兩位男子是聯合起來要欺騙、玩弄他而惱羞成怒。最後吵累了四人在森林中休息。國王交代這次不能在出錯。

 

The young couples wake up, in love with the right person.  When Hermia’s father discovers this, he had to succumb to the young couples’ will. The king also wins his queen back through a trick with the same magic potion.

當然，四位醒來後也就有情人終成眷屬。Hermia的父親見此狀，也將就女兒的意思。當然，國王也利用了魔法液贏回了自己與女王的關係。

天仙念︰國王贏回女王的方式，其實就是將一位"路人甲"的頭部變成驢子。再用魔法液讓女王愛上驢子。女王醒來之後以為做了惡夢，因此國王就利用這個時機好好的安慰她。(這齣劇本太多subplot，實在很難全部交代清楚啊)
